Aspasia Nasopoulou

The Greek-Dutch composer and pianist Aspasia Nasoupoulou writes sensitive contemporary music that is enjoyable to play;  touching people and provoking deep emotions. Working from a solid classical foundation, she expresses herself in an organic way with gentle, contemporary lyricism.

She achieves great intimacy with unusual combinations of instruments, often blending western and Mediterranean musical traditions. In addition to her skillful writing for recorder and voice, she uses text as a starting point for a composition.

Her works, written in commission, are performed by leading ensembles and soloists from the Netherlands and abroad. She regularly collaborates with directors, stage designers, choreographers and dancers. She is also active as a piano teacher.

During the Tristan Keuris Composers Concours 2014 she won both the first prize and the public prize for her composition 'Nanourisma.'
