Hanna Kulenty

Hanna Kulenty Composes music for opera, feature films, symphonic orchestras and chamber music. She studied composition at the Warsaw Conservatory and at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Louis Andriessen.

She is renowned for her superb masterclasses in composition and she teaches at several conservatories. In 1999 she served as composer-in-residence with the Gelders Orkest. She was a member of the juries of the 'Münchener Biennale' and 'Gaudeamus Music Week.'

Among the many honors Kulenty received, the most prestigious is the first prize of UNESCO's International Rostrum of Composers for her 'Trumpet Concerto.'

Kulenty's compositions are performed internationally. The Kronos Quartet commissioned her 4th and 5th string quartet, performed more than thirty times from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. In Poland, Kulenty has long been considered one of the most significant composers of her generation.
